OTTAWA, November 23, 2015 – The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) announces the opening of the new southbound access to the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie. Today at 1:30 PM, the southbound traffic lane onto the bridge from Huron Street was turned over to the International Bridge Administration (IBA), which will now maintain the new entrance and roadway.

The old entrance will be closed to bridge traffic, but will remain open for customers who need to visit the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).  Customers travelling south and needing to access bridge will be required to use the second entrance which will be marked “International Bridge to U.S.A.”

Micheline Dubé, President and Chief Executive Officer at the FBCL commented that “the opening of the new entrance is a key milestone which will contribute to improve the traffic flow on the bridge.” She added that “the project contractors, Ellis Don, and EPOH, have done an outstanding job at meeting the project timeline as planned.”
