Richard Talvitie, P.Eng. is an Ontario professional civil engineer with 37 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry. Over the course of his career, he has held progressive leadership roles at AECOM, culminating in his position as Manager of the northern Ontario water business line, overseeing operations in Sault Ste. Marie, Ottawa, Barrie, and Sudbury. His primary focus has been the planning, design, procurement, management, and oversight of transportation and community infrastructure projects.

From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Talvitie served as a Director with both the St. Mary’s River Bridge Company (the former owner of the Canadian portion of the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge) and the Joint International Bridge Authority, which provides operational and policy direction for the Sault Ste. Marie crossing. He also served on the FBCL Board of Directors from 2015 to 2019. He has been reappointed to the FBCL Board of Directors for a three-year term in December 2024.

Mr. Talvitie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering from Queen’s University and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
